Heart of darkness

Kurosawas last great epic, this magnificent film is a shattering experience leaving no room for hope or optimism. Loosely based on King Lear it is about an aging tyrant who leaves his kingdom to his three sons - only to see them tear apart all he created. The battle scenes are among the greatest ever filmed and every scene is crafted like a great painting. Kurosawa gives us a Gods eye view of human folly and greed - we never get close to the characters, but that isn't the point. Essential.

One of the last great films directed by Akira Kurosawa. A father gives his land and his power to his three sons. They turn against each other and against their father.
Based on Shakespeare's King Lear..
Not Good

Found this film over long and boring, and over acted.
Unless your a fan of films from Japan I would give this a miss.

Well worth viewing. Great story of betrayal and revenge, superbly filmed and acted.
