3.5 out of 10 A decent movie, but confusing for the wrong reason
David from Dublin, 23 Aug 2010
I'd heard that this movie was hard to follow, and so paid attention from the start, and while I missed one or two subtle things, I found that it was fairly easy to understand for the most part... until near the end. Then the movie suddenly shoots out several plot twists, turns, inadequately explains things, throws situations at the viewer without giving any lead up... There are websites out there that try to understand this movie but it's not just because the movie deals with an inherently compl

2 out of 10 Possibly very intelligent
Wolf from Clare, 22 Jan 2010
This film is quite good but it leaves you with the feeling that it doesn't actually hang together properly at the end. I agree that most films hand you the entire story on a plate and its nice not to have your intelligence insulted but I think I'd have to watch this two or three times just to be sure I 'get it'. Maybe it should have an age rating of 45! Its like Donnie Darko for PHD students. - Good all the same.

3 out of 10 I'm no scientist...
Conor from Louth, 11 Jan 2009
Even if i had achieved an A in Honours Physics, Chemistry and Biology in my Leaving Cert, i would still be scratching my head at this film. But despite the heavy technical jargon and sometimes baffling plot, this movie is original, real and watchable.

3 out of 10 Primer
Jason from Galway, 27 Feb 2009
This was actually a cool film, no effects... low budget... but a few twists... that make u make a funny face and go..."huh", really enjoyable... very slightly dribbles out towards the end when everything is revealed... but still odd... in a good way.

4 out of 10 Impressive
jonathan from Meath, 27 Jan 2008
Fantastic, micro-budget sci-fi movie. It's impossible to keep a handle on the plot on one viewing - it's arguably a little too puzzling for its own good. But it's short, 78 mins, so you can always watch it again to try to figure it out.

What's it about....
If you always want what you can't have, what do you want when you can have anything? Primer is set in the industrial park/suburban tract-home fringes of an unnamed contemporary city where two young engineers, Abe and Aaron, are members of a small group of men who work by day for a large corporation while conducting extracurricular experiments on their own time in a garage. While tweaking their current project, a device that reduces the apparent mass of any object placed...
