2.5 out of 10 Starts well, but fades to ridiculous
John from Dublin, 04 Feb 2008
Crowe & Bale are believable as an arty outlaw and straight-as-a-die rancher thrown together when Bale volunteers to escort Crowe to a prison train. A tense beginning sets up the two-dimensional characters, while Crowe's gang work toward his release. The action is initially well contained and the sub-plot of Bale's rebellious teenage son works well, but things fall apart toward the end, as the condemned man ludricrously assists his captors and resists the attempts of his friends to free him.

2 out of 10 Epic Performance by Ben Foster
Brian from Dublin, 15 Apr 2010
I was quite excited by the prospect of a remake of 3:10 to yuma but I was bitterly dissapointed by this. It starts of nicely but the characters move quickly into stupidity, following motives which are decidely unbelievable. There is only one reason to watch this movie; Ben Foster. He steals the show from two of hollywoods biggest stars. Stealing the show seems to be this guys hobby. If you've never heard of him then watch Alpha Dog.

4 out of 10 An unusual western
Patrick from Cork, 20 Feb 2008
Effectively a character piece which swings very successfully between slow-burning character development, and fast violent action - cue Russell Crowe with a fork... Crowe is his usual charismatic self, and again demonstrates just why he's a star; Christian Bale is more than able to hold his own. More than most Westerns, "3:10 to Yuma" examines motives for actions, and creates nice shades of grey instead of simple black and white.

4 out of 10 Excellent Western
Ciaran from Dublin, 30 May 2008
A modern-day Western that harks back to the classics of old, Yuma is solid viewing from opening to credits. A good plot, excellent actors playing decent roles and some beautiful scenery make it all very worthwhile. Although Bale and Crowe are the big names, it is Ben Foster who steals the show for me as Crowe's ruthless sidekick. All Western fans should love this and many others aside should enjoy it too.

4 out of 10 Pretty good show
Michael from Cork, 08 May 2008
Really enjoyed this western. Great role for Russell Crowe as the "bad guy" who bonds with his captor Christian Bale who himself excels as the ex soldier turned farmer who desperately wants to gain the respect of his wife and kids. The film is well paced and keeps the viewer interested in what happens the characters all the way to the end. If you like westerns of yester-year then you'll like this.

What's it about....
In Arizona in the late 1800's, infamous outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) and his vicious gang of thieves and murderers plagued the Southern Railroad. When Wade is captured, Civil War veteran Dan Evans (Christian Bale), struggling to survive on his drought-plagued ranch, volunteers to deliver him alive to the 3:10 to Yuma, a train that will take the killer to trial. On the trail, Evans and Wade, each from very different worlds, begin to earn each other's respect. But with...
